The league will be particularly concerned after former PSL general manager Ace Ncobo dropped a bombshell last year when he said South African football was "rotten to the core".
And with the season reaching its climax, there are fears that money could exchange hands for favours as the battle for survival heats up.
In an effort to avoid this, the last two weeks of the league programme, February 20 and March 6, will see all matches played on the same day at the same time.
PSL chief operations officer Ronnie Schloss admitted to being concerned, but said there was little the league could do.
"We can only hope that that the clubs do not get involved in something as untoward as that. We believe most of our clubs will conduct themselves in a professional manner," Schloss said.
"Generally, people have a good sporting attitude but in any case where a match official is found to have been involved in any corrupt activities, then... let's just say he will lose his livelihood.
"There is nothing the league can do without evidence. We can only send them to courses to improve their refereeing."
