WHEN baseball great Lawrence Yogi Berra said "it ain't over till it's over", he could have been referring to the current Absa Premiership league race.

SuperSport United are on course to defend their title. They lead the pack with 47 points and are playing fifth-placed Orlando Pirates tonight.

But the positions at the top might be swapped after this encounter. Second-placed Sundowns welcome Bloemfontein Celtic to Super Stadium at 7.30pm.

The fact that the Brazilians, who looked dead and buried early in the season, are even challenging for the title today shows just how times have changed for the Chloorkop-based club.

Credit has to go to coach Hristo Stoichkov, with defender Matthew Booth admitting that the coach had inherited "certain problems" from last season, hence the poor start to this campaign. But that is all water under the bridge.

Stoichkov is spoilt for choice with the return from national duty of the likes of Franklin Cale and Matthew Pattison, the only exception being Elias Pelembe.

Siwelele meanwhile still have a legion of suspensions to contend with, though Prince Olomu is back from Israel.

A win will be a fitting birthday present for Celtic's spokesperson Sello Nduna, who turned 38 yesterday, the day he obtained his honours degree in management education at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein.

Celtic defender Mbuyiselo Sambu said: "The race is so tight that you can't claim safety at any position. In a matter of just two games you could be out of the top eight.

"Any game we lose right now might put us under tremendous pressure. We need to continue from the last match we played when we beat Ajax Cape Town."

Nduna said: "They (Downs) have quality players and a win for them means pressure for the champions, but we also have our objectives to fulfil."
