Mokgophi is back in the game

FORMER Platinum Stars general manager Thamaga "Ti" Mokgophi is back in the game, but this time not as a club official.

FORMER Platinum Stars general manager Thamaga "Ti" Mokgophi is back in the game, but this time not as a club official.

The irascible Mokgophi, who said he was pushed out at Stars last year, was elected chairperson of Safa's Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Football Association on Sunday.

Mokgophi was among club officials who were arrested after they were implicated in match fixing and corruption through Operation Dribble.

But he was not charged since there was no evidence from Safa that he bribed referees during his long stint at Silver Stars.

The burly Mankweng-based football administrator is over the moon to be back, declaring: "Football is my everything. Top of my list is to resurrect the association and ensure that more players are produced for professional football.

"I was once involved in the local association but people who were not happy with my decisions pushed me out. But those people did nothing to develop the sport. The previous executive committee did not have contact with clubs, something that will change.

"We are also determined to bring stability to the association and will not tolerate factions," he warned.
