THE Goble Park pitch is in such a poor state that tomorrow's Absa Premiership match between Free State Stars and visitors Santos has been moved to Charles Mopeli Stadium.

"We have inspected the pitch at Goble Park and it is in a terrible condition because of the heavy rains," Stars brand manager Rantsi Mokoena said.

"We cannot take any chances because it's been raining every day. The pitch could be worse by (tomorrow) because Goble Park does not have a drainage system.

"The decision to take the game to Charles Mopeli Stadium was taken in consultation with (Stars) coach Gordon Igesund and we have already informed all the stakeholders.

"Charles Mopeli Stadium has been renovated and there is a new drainage system.

"We also want to apologise to supporters for the late change. It's something that is beyond our control."

Mokoena said they wanted to resume their league campaign with a bang by winning the match as they try to stave off relegation.

"It's a must-win game but it will not be an easy match against Santos, who want the three points to remain in the title race."
