Cosmos are level on points with Mpumalanga Black Aces at the bottom of the Absa Premiership table but will fancy their chances against Maritzburg United at Rand Stadium tonight.

Though not out of the woods yet, club owner and coach Jomo Sono will feel they stand a good chance of avoiding the chop. He will be motivated by the thought of serving humble pie to his detractors, who have already written Cosmos's obituary.

Ezenkosi will need to collect all three points on offer tonight as they have some tough matches ahead against the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

United also find themselves in a precarious position - though not as bad as that of Cosmos - because a win for Ezenkosi will reduce the gap between the sides to five points.
