THE 2010 Gauteng Future International Cup reaches its climax this weekend, with the semifinals taking place at Rand Stadium today.

Brazilian side Botafogo, who this week employed former Bafana Bafana coach Joel Santana to guide their senior team, take on France's Paris St Germain at 3pm.

The second semifinal will be between Shandong Luneng from China and Tunisia's Esperance, the only African side remaining in the tournament.

Tournament director and Safa Soweto chief executive Phil Mogodi said the final will be played at the same venue at 2.30pm tomorrow.

"We are quite excited that the tournament is coming to an end, it has been a great one and we appreciate the support from everybody who contributed to its success."

Gauteng MEC for sport, arts, culture and recreation Nelisiwe Mtimkulu-Mbatha said: "It was a great success, we used it to showcase our readiness for the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

"We are hoping that some of the youngsters who featured in this tournament will represent Bafana Bafana during the 2014 Fifa World Cup."

The biggest disappointment from a South African perspective is that none of the four local teams made it past the quarterfinals.
