Divisional manager Colin Wainer is extremely pleased with the outcome of the auction held in Pretoria on January 24 and says that auctions of this nature will be a regular feature on Aucor's calendar. Wainer says some of the more intricate pieces of jewellery sold for top dollar.
A Rolex Daytona knocked down for a bargain R65000 and a "his and hers" set of stainless steel and gold Rolex Oyster Perpetuals were sold for just above R50000, a very good deal given the immaculate condition of these watches. While only going for between R500 to R1500, there was also spirited bidding for a number of silver-proof coins.
"This is an under-serviced industry. We believe there is sufficient potential for growth. The new division is already performing well. We trust it will be a great asset both to our business and our clients," Aucor managing director Shannon Winterstein says.
Those on the lookout for something special for Valentine's Day should diarise Saturday February 13 for Aucor's next jewellery and collectibles auction which will take place in Johannesburg.
