Football is undoubtedly the biggest medium through which people from all walks of life, religious backgrounds and political persuasions can be united in addressing social ills that continue to afflict and reverse the course of nature.
Football, in the same way as HIV-Aids does, is the only sport that cuts indiscriminately across all forms of prejudice, exploitation and experience.
Yet these two demi-gods have distanced themselves from the reality of life.
I suspect that there is a perception, for some peculiar reason, that Blatter is unchallengeable. Well, I am here to say that Blatter is human just like all of us and that he is not beyond reproach.
Perhaps our local leaders in the Safa hierarchy must also hang their heads in shame for not emphasising the importance of highlighting the HIV-Aids pandemic while the eyes of the world are glued on our shores.
I do not even wish to delve into the statistics to illustrate my point, but I do feel ashamed to be an African at a time when we could be maximising exposure to and resources for pertinent issues that continue to leave an irremovable stain on our populace.
Blatter is not a Messiah for lobbying and approving the hosting of the biggest sporting event in the world, our country worked tirelessly to secure these rights.
Therefore, we must not be deceived to succumb to any demi-god based on an unfounded sense of eternal gratitude when our people continue to perish under the big noses of those who are abdicating their responsibility to make a difference in the lives of all our people.
The reality of our situation is that the World Cup will be hosted on African soil that is permanently stained with the blood of children whose future continues to be threatened by the persistence of an incurable infection.
Shame on Fifa and Blatter for their inaction and silence on this global killer of mankind.
