Party expels four councillors

FOUR DA councillors in Limpopo have been expelled for failing to pay the party's monthly subscriptions.

FOUR DA councillors in Limpopo have been expelled for failing to pay the party's monthly subscriptions.

But the four have since accused the party of firing them because they questioned the R200 contributions. They also claim they were expelled for supporting former provincial party leader Mike Holford, who has since retired.

Those expelled are Victor Dankuru, a councillor at the Capricorn district municipality, Enos Mailula (Makhuduthamaga in Jane Furse, Sekhukhune), Edward Manganyi (Mogalakwena in Mokopane), and another identified only as Mbombi from the BaPhalaborwa municipality.

The four have since taken the matter up with their lawyer. The party's provincial leader, Desiree van der Walt, confirmed the councillors' expulsion. - Frank Maponya
