'DA-ID pact not falling apart'

THE Independent Democrats and Cope say their political alliance with the DA for the 2011 local government elections is not falling apart.

This despite both parties slamming the DA in the media this week.

Yesterday, ID MP Joe Mgculwa lashed out at the DA for disagreeing with him that SA's community development workers "are nothing more than ANC cadres that are being paid to recruit members".

The DA's Western Cape local government MEC Anton Bredell said the CDWs were not just ANC foot soldiers.

Mgculwa retorted: "Perhaps the only difference between CDWs in the Western Cape and the other provinces is that the ones in the Western Cape are foot soldiers for the DA."

Mgculwa denied that the alliance between the D A and ID was falling apart. - Anna Majavu
