MPUMALANGA police are cracking down on matric fraud in the province with the arrest of three police administration clerks in connection with a fake matric certificate scam.

MPUMALANGA police are cracking down on matric fraud in the province with the arrest of three police administration clerks in connection with a fake matric certificate scam.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi said yesterday Maurine Sibulelani, 40, and Phetheni Annah Ngwenya, 35, who work at the provincial police offices, and Nelly Zulu, 41, who is attached to the Nelspruit police station, were arrested on Friday.

Zulu allegedly organised fake matric certificates for Sibulelani and Ngwenya so they could apply for jobs at the provincial office.

On their arrest, the three were immediately taken to the Nelspruit magistrate's court and were granted R1 000 bail each. They are expected to appear in court again on February 3.

Their arrest brings to eight the number of those arrested for fake matric certificates this month.
