WE South African soccer fans have been dribbled so much that we now seem to be in apermanent stupor.

WE South African soccer fans have been dribbled so much that we now seem to be in apermanent stupor.

We have been left wide-eyed by a national body that has fumbled from one administration to the next, hoping that we will one day reach stability.

Our beloved Bafana Bafana have more often than not flattered to deceive. Africa's kings in 1996, our dribblers are now the whipping boys of the continent.

So every opportunity we get to wipe a tear - however misplaced - we grab with the determination and agility of former great Nelson "Teenage" Dladla.

We now celebrate mediocrity. That's how starved we are of success. Otherwise we would not celebrate at a 6-2 practise game win over mediocre Swaziland.

Wait for the boys to shoot straight against soccer giants. Then we can jump for joy.
