SWAZILAND are not a powerhouse in football and a coach can't be overzealous about a victory over them, but Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is excited after the national team's win on Saturday.

The South Africans walloped Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba's Isihlangu 6-2 in a practice match at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.

Gert Schalkwyk, whose selection to the squad last week raised eyebrows since he is not playing regular club football, scored a brace on Saturday. Franklin Cale also scored two goals. Katlego Mphela and Thulani Serero struck one each.

Dennis Masina and Siza Dlamini scored for the visitors. Parreira, who seems to have instilled a winning mentality in the team, expressed his satisfaction at his charges' display in front of goal.

"The boys had not been active for some time, but they gave their all," he said.

"No matter who the opposition is, scoring six goals is always a good sign.

"They were nice goals too. Good combinations and good finishing."

"We want the principles of Brazilian football, which is keeping possession and passing the ball around. We did that (on Saturday)."

About Cale's two goals, Parreira said: "It's good if you have a midfielder who goes up and scores."

On players who were playing for the first time he said it was "good when players come and show their credibility. They put us in trouble about who to select. This is a nice problem to have".

On Zimbabwe, the team's opponents at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday night, he said they were ready for them.

"I will make two to three changes to the team that started against Isihlangu for the match. It will also be important for us to win this one to build our morale before going to the camp in Brazil."

Captain Matthew Booth said: "We are all happy with the result. We have been criticised in the past for not scoring goals but we showed we can do it.
