INTERNATIONALLY renowned runner Hendrick Ramaala plans to run with a temporary licence after his four-year contract with Nedbank expired last year.

INTERNATIONALLY renowned runner Hendrick Ramaala plans to run with a temporary licence after his four-year contract with Nedbank expired last year.

"The door is still open. We reached a deadlock during negotiations after I presented what I wanted from them to be part of their team for this year," Ramaala said.

His comments came after the Nedbank Running Club's elite Green Dream Team was unveiled at a recent media briefing.

Ramaala's name was on the list.

"It is surprising but I'm not part of them this year. I will continue training hard so that I can win events in order to get a better deal elsewhere," Ramaala said.

"I will continue to work closely with them because I have two boys, Zongamele Dyubeni and Odwa Tunyiswa, who are from my development team and are still part of the team.

"It is a great project and we have to support it."

Ramaala is one of South Africa's top black runners who are doing well on the international front but surprisingly do not have personal sponsorship.

Others include Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, Khotso Mokoena, Poppy Mlambo, Tshamano Setone, Norman Dlomo and Caster Semenya.

"It is sad that we in athletics are getting shabby treatment when it comes to personal sponsors.

"Our black athletes are in serious trouble," Ramaala said.

The elite Dream Team has been selected by Zithulele Sinqe, Lungile Rado, Mark Struwig, Gerrie Coetzee, Bruce Fordyce and Johan Brits.

Team members include Lungisa Mdedelwa, Sibusiso Nzima, Irvette van Blerk, Jeffrey Gwebu, Mlambo, Rene Kalmer, Josiah Thugwane and Coolboy Ngamole.
