Havenga comments against the background of three new auctions on consecutive days on the Park Village books, including properties in Craighall, Dainfern and Kyalami.

He quotes various pointers to an improvement in the property market in general, including the fact that new residential mortgage loans doubled from January 2009 to September, the view that the residential building cycle has bottomed and an Absa report that house prices grew 4,7 percent in November.

"All this suggests that property is once more an attractive asset," Havenga says.

The Dainfern Valley Estate property is a prime example, he says. Comprising a large double-storeyed Tuscan style mansion, the property goes on auction on Tuesday at 11am on thecorner of Vallon and Tarascon Avenue, Dainfern Ext 16, Fourways.
