Focus on service delivery

THE ANC in KwaZulu-Natal says it will use the party's 98th anniversary in Estcourt onSaturday to strengthen service delivery in the area.

THE ANC in KwaZulu-Natal says it will use the party's 98th anniversary in Estcourt onSaturday to strengthen service delivery in the area.

The area of Estcourt, particularly Wembezi, is known for its political rivalry between the ANC and Inkatha Freedom Party.

ANC provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said the address would focus on the ANC's key priorities as outlined by party leader Jacob Zuma during his address on January 8.

Provincial ANC chairperson and Premier Zweli Mkhize will also outline the priorities of KwaZulu-Natal.

Zikalala said Minister of Human Settlements Tokyo Sexwale will deliver the keynote address.

"The PEC took the decision to hold the ANC's 98th provincial anniversary celebrations in the Ukhahlamba region to strengthen issues of service delivery.

"It will also use the positive political atmosphere that will be created by the event as a basis to mobilise and strengthen the ANC in the region," Zikalala said.

He said that over the past few weeks ANC structures in the region embarked on massive and extensive mobilisation campaigns for the anniversary cele- brations.
