TOMORROW and Friday will be crucial days for the future of two local bantamweight fighters, Simphiwe "V12" Vetyeka and Vus'Umuzi "Marvelous" Malinga.

Their promoter Branco Milenkovic will be involved in two purse bids to decide their future. Milenkovic will be up against two of the world's top American promoters, Don King and Oscar De La Hoya.

The first bid will be for the IBF mandatory eliminator between King's charge Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko and Malinga.

Agbeko from Ghana, the former IBF champion, is ranked third, while Malinga from Ekurhuleni is five spots below. The title is held by Johnny Perez.

The purse bid takes place at 7pm today at the IBF's headquarters in New Jersey, New York.

Twenty-four hours later in Mexico, the home of the WBC, Milenkovic will battle against De La Hoya for the rights to stage that organisation's bantamweight mandatory clash between Vetyeka and Abner Mares.

Vetyeka is ranked No 1, while Mares is one spot below this Eastern Cape fighter who holds the IBO title. "It's very important that both Vetyeka and Vusi fight here at home," Milenkovic said.
