LIMPOPO police have released an identikit of a man being sought in connection with the killing of a police officer in GaRakgoadi village near Motetema on New Year's Day.

Police have been searching for Kgotlelelo Mogadime, 18, who they believe can help them with their investigation into Inspector Kgobishi Sonnyboy Tladi's killing.

Tladi, 54, was attached to the Motetema police station. He was gunned down shortly after midnight on January 1.

Tladi had reportedly arrested three crime suspects whom he had been investigating and locked them in a police van.

It is alleged that the third man, Mogadime, grabbed Tladi's firearm and shot him before fleeing.

Yesterday Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said a search for Mogadime had been unsuccessful.

"We searched everywhere for Mogadime, but failed to locate him. We hope residents will assist us with information about his whereabouts," Ramatseba said.

He said Mogadime is in possession of two firearms.

"We call on the public not to confront him, but rather to inform the police as he might be dangerous," he said.

Anyone with any information should call 082-414-6464.
