KNOWLEDGE Tshabalala, 6, was reunited with his family yesterday after being missing for six days.

While his mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were fussing over him, Knowledge played outside with his cousins.

In between, he sucked his thumb and said he was happy to be back home.

Knowledge took the wrong bus home after his first day at school last Wednesday and was found by a Good Samaritan, who took him to Lenasia South police station.

His great-grandmother, Sizile Tshabalala, said the family was happy that he was found in good health.

"I love this child. I almost died of worry," Tshabalala said. "I could hardly sleep for the past six days."

She said the family had expected the worst.

"Most children are not found and some are found dead, like Masego Kgomo of Soshanguve."

She said Knowledge had started playing and speaking again.

"When we met him at school this morning he was quiet. That is why he spent a long time at the police station. He would not tell them where he lived," she said.

She thanked everyone who had helped them.

Police spokesperson Inspector Gordon Billing said Knowledge was brought to Lenasia South police station on Wednesday afternoon by a man who found him wandering about.

"The Victim Empowerment Group at the police station took him to a place of safety in Lenasia," he said.

Freddy Maphula, the principal of Olifantsvlei Primary School where Knowledge is in Grade One, was relieved that the boy had been found unharmed.

Maphula urged parents to tell teachers about their children's transport arrangements."
