Jodi Solomon signs Dlamini

JODI Solomon yesterday confirmed the signing of Bongani Dlamini, the top-rated junior lightweight contender.

JODI Solomon yesterday confirmed the signing of Bongani Dlamini, the top-rated junior lightweight contender.

"Elias Tshabalala will be his trainer and I will manage him," said the vivacious boxing manager.

Solomon also handles the affairs of WBC International and ABU light heavyweight champion Isaac "Golden Boy" Chilemba.

Dlamini, 22, is the younger brother of Ashley "Stimela" Dlamini, who has made strides under trainer Colin Nathan.

Bongani was based in Free State, where his skills were honed by Lehlohonolo Ledwaba. Ledwaba trains fighters under Robs Promotions, including the current SA super middleweight champion, Tshepang Mohale.

"Bongani is a very good boxer," said Solomon. "I saw videos a while ago and I was highly impressed. Elias and I have big plans for him."

This good-looking fighter will make his debut under his new management on March 30 in a tournament presented by Jeff Ellis, said Solomon, who is still looking for Dlamini's opponent.

Dlamini has eight wins (7 KOs) and two losses. Solomon also said Malawian Chilemba will defend the WBC International belt in London on March 26.
