THE SA Municipal Workers Union wants heads to roll afterR3,6million reportedly went missing from the coffers of theThabazimbi municipality last year.

The union also said that building materials that were paid for two years ago had not been accounted for.

The union accused the Thabazimbi municipality in Limpopo of "rampant corruption, nepotism and poor service delivery".

It also called on the mayor, municipal manager and councillors to resign within 14 days.

"The money went missing in March last year from the municipality's account and to date nothing has been done to rectify or investigate the matter.

"This is one incident among many that has plagued this municipality," said the union.

Samwu spokesperson Walter Theledi said the building materials bought by the municipality in January 2008 to build licensing offices were nowhere to be found.

"A sum of R78285 was paid to the building supply store, but two years later no single material has been delivered," said Theledi.

Municipal manager Roger Nkhumise said yesterday that an investigation had been launched into the missing millions.
