A WEEKEND of anti-crime operations netted 128 arrests in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Monday.

A WEEKEND of anti-crime operations netted 128 arrests in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Monday.

"Suspects were arrested for assault, theft of motor vehicles, burglary, possession of drugs, possession of an unlicensed firearm, crimen injuria, malicious damage to property, intimidation, rape and armed robbery," polive spokesperson Captain Mega Ndobe said.

Another 30 people were arrested on suspicion of being illegal immigrants and 32 were held for drinking in public.

Ndobe said all those arrested were expected to appear in courts in Natalspruit, Germiston and Alberton yesterday. - Sapa
