Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said the first incident occurred on the N2 north carriageway near the M25 KwaMashu Highway.
"A bakkie left the road after the driver lost control of the vehicle."
Three people were injured.
A while later a bakkie transporting construction workers overturned on the M41 bound for Umhlanga.
"It is thought that the driver of the bakkie, with trailer, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a bend as he left Phoenix.
"The bakkie and trailer overturned and skidded to a halt on the roadway."
Six construction workers were seriously injured when they were thrown from the vehicle.
In another accident, a pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car on the N2 south bound carriageway near the M25 KwaMashu Highway.
"It is thought that the man had braved traffic in an effort to cross the road and was struck by a car," Wicks said.
All the injured were treated at the accident scenes before being taken to hospital. - Sapa
