Multi-talented musician Albert Frost won the Doritos Be Heard music search. He won a cool R200 000.
Frost's ace original track, Television, received the most online votes from the public, with the singer-songwriter-guitarist's irresistible brand of acoustic pop-rock finding favour with listeners hungry for quality home-grown sounds.
Frost recently released his debut solo studio album, Devils & Gods.
"This is exactly what I needed to help push my solo career into overdrive," Frost says.
"Many thanks to Doritos for getting involved in the local music industry. This is the kind of opportunity that helps artists further our dreams and establish a strong basis to work from in the future."
Hot on the heels of Frost was runner-up Roots of Youth, whose track Pimps & Ho's also struck a chord with music lovers. These sensational young rockers won R100000 for their video featuring top model Christina Storm.
"We' re over the moon with the response to the Doritos Be Heard music search," said Nthabiseng Hlophe of Doritos South Africa. Frost also showcased his talent to the world during a spectacular New Year's Eve party at The Bank nightclub, Rosebank.
The gig formed part of a virtual worldwide concert, to will be broadcast live and featuring other Doritos Be Heard winners from Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Spain, Turkey, Australia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, China, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Greece, India and Thailand.
