School computers stolen

THIEVES have cleaned out a school that employs blind people as security guards, stealing computers during the festive season.

The Botsholla High School in Moletji's Flora village had been employing blind people to work as security guards for the past three years.

But this time the thieves took advantage of the guards' alleged lack of sight and broke into the school. They stole two computers valued at R10000.

The incident happened between January 2 and 8.

According to Matlala police spokesperson Inspector Molatelo Moreana the burglary was only discovered on January 8 when teachers went to the school to release matric results.

He said it was not yet known whether the guard was present during the burglary.

"What we know is that the thieves managed to enter the staff room through the roof and ceiling and stole the two computers."

He said no one had been arrested in connection with the matter and that investigations were under way.

"We are appealing to members of the community who might have information about the matter to come forward and assist us."

The school was in the news recently when it was discovered that it had employed two blind people over a period of three years.
