THE ZCC priest who was accused of raping one of his congregants, is a free man.

THE ZCC priest who was accused of raping one of his congregants, is a free man.

Police spokesperson Solomon Sibiya said the 55-year-old of Rietvallei pastor was released after prosecutor of the Krugersdorp magistrate's court, Eric van Stader, threw the case out due to insufficient evidence.

"The 30-year-old woman laid a charge of rape last week against the pastor, but failed to report the crime immediately.

"She only came to report the crime three weeks later.

"The woman said she also told her husband immediately about the incident and they both did not report it to the police, which is rare."

Sibiya said the woman took a bath after the alleged rape, thereby removing DNA evidence, which is crucial in a rape case.

He said Van Stader thought that the case had no substance because she did not go to the doctor after the alleged rape.

The woman claimed that she went to the pastor with her husband to get help because she had problems conceiving.

When they arrived at the pastor's house he asked her husband to leave in order for him to perform a ritual, but after rubbing ointment on her body, he allegedly forced himself on her.
