Recovered Smart off to Greece

FORMER Amajita attacking midfielder Mapidima "Bally" Smart leaves for Greece this weekend to rejoin Kerkyra FC after being out for three months due to injury.

FORMER Amajita attacking midfielder Mapidima "Bally" Smart leaves for Greece this weekend to rejoin Kerkyra FC after being out for three months due to injury.

Smart, who turns 21 on April 27, has been recovering at home with his family after breaking his tibia at a training session in September.

"The rehabilitation has been going very well. I feel good and will be starting with light training in Greece next week," Smart said.

"I got injured at training after a tackle from behind from a teammate. We were only two games into the new season, in which I featured on both occasions.

"Sustaining injuries is part of the game, I'm happy the whole thing is over. I'm looking forward to working hard to get back into the starting line-up," said Smart, who joined Kerkyra FC from English side Norwich City almost two seasons ago.

Smart, from Seshego in Limpopo, is one of three South Africans playing in Greece, the others being Stanton Fredericks and Bryce Moon.

"I'm enjoying my football. One of the things I want to do this year is to be part of the new Under-23 side for the 2012 Olympics."
