Manhunt for drama queens

POLICE say they are looking for social butterflies Kelly Khumalo and Khanyi Mbau but have done nothing to show their seriousness about finding them.

POLICE say they are looking for social butterflies Kelly Khumalo and Khanyi Mbau but have done nothing to show their seriousness about finding them.

The two rivals were involved in a catfight in December at high-end Extreme-Glam hair salon in Rivonia. They both laid charges - Khumalo at Douglasdale and Mbau at Sandton police stations.

According to both camps the police have asked for the two socialites' whereabouts in the past five days in order to proceed with the case.

Khumalo's manager, Bonsai Shongwe, told Sowetan that he was aware that the police were looking for her. He said five days ago Douglasdale police had called him and asked him about Mbau's whereabouts.

"Kelly has nothing to hide from the police. They can come and get her if they want to. Nothing will happen to her. We will get the best lawyers to defend her," Shongwe said.

He said he had tried to resolve the issue amicably with Mbau's former manager, Malcom X, but Mbau refused to drop charges.

"Word is that Khanyi's management does not want this to be resolved amicably because they want to use it as a publicity stunt. Kelly is fed up with this whole rubbish."

Malcom X, who spoke for Mbau until last month, also said he had been contacted by the Sandton police asking him about Khumalo's whereabouts. He refused to comment further.

Mbau refused to comment.

Douglasdale police spokesperson Inspector Balan Muthan yesterday said the docket had been transferred to the Sandton police station where the case was now being handled.
