Keep the faith

THE thinking by the Local Organising Committee to sell tickets for matches involving Bafana Bafana over the counter is a pragmatic one. It is no use copying models that work elsewhere if local conditions are unsuitable.

It is no deep mystery why these tickets are not selling like hot cakes. We have what can only be described as a lousy team. Absence from the continental showpiece taking place in Angola right now underscores this point.

Secondly, selling between R136 and R6000 the tickets are not easily accessible to the average local fan. Having a closing date in January, traditionally the longest month for salary earners, has not helped matters either.

But that is no reason to despair. We have a penchant for last-minute queues, be it to renew our firearm licences or to pay discounted traffic fines.

Keep the faith, Danny.
