IF YOU have missed the deadline to apply for a Fringe space at this year's Grahamstown National Arts Festival you should consider yourselves a lucky lot.

Artists who want to be part of the Fringe for the 15 days of the 2010 National Arts Festival, from June 20 to July 4 in Grahamstown, have been granted one final extension by the organisers to ensure that their application forms are submitted by January 25.

Last year 424 productions totaling 1 822 performances made their way to Grahamstown to perform on the Fringe. The Festival hosted more than 170 000 visitors.

It is now preparing to host additional international audiences who will be in South Africa for the World Cup.

"The National Arts Festival wants to provide tourists and soccer fans with the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the soul of South Africa through its arts in-between watching the world's best soccer talent on display," the organisers say.

Registration forms and Info booklets can be requested by e-mail - fringe@nationalartsfestival.co.za - or phone 046-603-1103. Online submissions can be made at www.nationalartsfestival.co.za/fringe.
