TOGOLESE goalkeeper Kodjovi Obilale remained in a stable condition in Johannesburg's Milpark Hospital yesterday after an attack on his country's soccer team last Friday, the hospital said.

"Though he remains ventilated he is responding well and his condition remains unchanged," Elias Degiannis said in a statement.

Obilale, 25, was airlifted to the hospital with serious wounds after his team was attacked on arrival in Cabinda, Angola, on Friday. The team was en route to the Africa Cup of Nations games when their bus was ambushed.

An assistant coach, the team spokesperson and the bus driver were killed in the attack that left eight other people wounded.

On his arrival at Milpark on Saturday, doctors conducted corrective surgery on Obilale after he was shot with a military assault rifle.
