LIMPOPO parks and tourism has embarked on a global marketing campaign to lure more local and foreign people to the province known as the Garden of Eden.

It has dispatched a delegation to a prestigious international trade exhibition show in Holland, which gets under way today. It ends on Sunday.

It also has another team in Angola to promote Limpopo at the 27th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

In March Limpopo will send a team to Germany for another international trade show, Limpopo Parks and Tourism communications manager Mike Tauatsoala said.

"We have signed several memorandums of agreement with various operators throughout the world. Our aim is to see more people taking a short left to Limpopo.

"Our obligation is to promote Limpopo. We are using the 2010 Fifa World Cup to step up our campaign, considering that more than 500000 tourists will be coming to South Africa.

"The response has been incredible, especially after the World Cup final draw. We have been inundated with calls from people in Brazil, Holland and Argentina.

"Our advantage as Limpopo province is that we are 80percent rural - most of the people coming here want something unique.

"We offer a great experience to the rest of the South Africans and foreigners, they won't see the usual things that they see in their respective city centres."

Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale said: "The World Cup presents us with a golden opportunity to showcase the province, we are happy everything is well on track."
