Rocker quizzed over suicide

BORDEAUX - French rocker and convicted killer Bertrand Cantat has been quizzed by police after his ex-wife was found hanged at her home in an apparent suicide, officials said yesterday.

BORDEAUX - French rocker and convicted killer Bertrand Cantat has been quizzed by police after his ex-wife was found hanged at her home in an apparent suicide, officials said yesterday.

Noir Desir frontman Cantat was convicted of beating his actress girlfriend Marie Trintignant to death in 2003.

A Lithuanian court jailed him for eight years, and he was released on parole in 2007.

Officials said Cantat was asleep at the Bordeaux home of Kristina Rady, 41, when she hanged herself on Sunday.

The couple's two children were not present at the house when Rady committed suicide.

The 45-year-old singer was questioned by police in Bordeaux on Sunday but was not arrested. An autopsy was performed yesterday.

"According to initial findings confirmed by some technical data, the death was due to suicide by hanging," said a source close to the investigation. - Sapa-AFP
