Sedibe will be introduced by Safa president Kirsten Nematandani at a media briefing this morning, taking over from Raymond Hack who was relieved of his duties yesterday.
Sowetan can reveal that Sedibe has agreed to serve as acting CEO of Safa until December 31, when Danny Jordaan will be returning to the federation.
The hard-working Sedibe, who joined the Local Organising Committee (LOC) in 2006 as head of its legal affairs, could not be reached for comment last night.
Sedibe - who is married to Generations actress Sonia Sedibe, known as Ntombi in the popular SACB soapie - is also an interim board member of the national broadcaster.
Jordaan was seconded to the LOC in 2005 by the previous Safa executive to serve as its chief executive until after the 2010 Fifa World Cup campaign.
Before that Jordaan was Safa CEO. Hack was roped in to stand in for him until December 31 2010.
"The agreement is that Leslie will be in charge until December 2010 when Danny returns from the LOC," said a source, who asked not to be named.
"The position of Safa CEO is his (Jordaan's) and everybody can't wait to welcome him back. While the World Cup will finish on July 11, Danny will be the last one to leave his office because there will be a lot of administrative work to be attended to."
Regarding the departure of Hack, Nematandani said: "Every organisation has a vision, and in terms of Safa going forward we felt it was correct that we release him from his duties and continue the vision with someone else."
Hack said: "I'm not leaving under any cloud.
"I want to assure you that there is no animosity between me and the Safa executive committee.
"I was not pushed."
Hack , a lawyer by profession, will continue to serve on the LOC board, as well as the Fifa and CAF disciplinary committees.
