Malabela accused of failing to pay lodge

TROUBLE is piling up for Pat Malabela, the embattled owner of Dynamos football club, who has been accused of failing to pay a huge bill by a leading lodge in Limpopo.

Malabela, who owns the Limpopo-based National First Division side, had allegedly failed to honour his promise to settle the account with Zororo Lodge, a luxury venue he used for his team's training camp last month.

The lodge in Dalmada, outside Polokwane, is the same one where two senior Dynamos players are alleged to have gone on a drinking spree.

Sowetan ran a story yesterday in which a senior player revealed that Malabela did not pay the club's players their full December salaries and bonuses.

The owner of Zororo Lodge, Ronnie Shingange, confirmed yesterday that the team had held a camp at his lodge and that Malabela owed him half of the full bill.

Shingange would not say how much Malabela owed him but Sowetan has learnt that the full bill was R79000.

A source at the lodge, who wished to remain anonymous, said yesterday: "We learnt that Malabela had gone to Durban with his family during the Christmas holidays while we were left penniless.

"This is really unfair."

When contacted for comment yesterday, Malabela said: "There is nothing to say about this story and you can write whatever you like about me."
