Sowetan has established that some players at the PSL First Division outfit were not paid in December while others went home with half pay.
In fact, a senior player who did not want to be named said the team seemed to apply the "no work, no pay" rule because management claimed the players did not feature in official games in December.
"We were surprised not to get our pay cheques, only to find that some of our colleagues were paid a fraction of the salary, amounting to R2000. It was a real shock," said the senior player.
"What made it worse is that we had all planned for our families and the festive period with our December salaries and bonus in mind.
"I could not even buy my mother a present, though I seldom see her during the season because of our hectic playing schedule."
Players are paid between R5000 and R20000 at Dynamos.
Club boss Pat Malabela sold the side's franchise for more than R35million about three seasons ago.
Malabela yesterday pleaded ignorance, saying as far as he was concerned all the players were paid last month.
"I'm not aware of any player not paid or paid half a salary last month," said Malabela, whose team are among the strong contenders for promotion to the top flight at the end of the season.
The non-payment of players at the Dynamites could land the club management in trouble with the South African Football Players' Union (Safpu).
Safpu secretary Tebogo Mophaleng said if it was true that Dynamos players had not been paid then they should take appropriate action against Malabela.
"He will be forced to pay them and nothing else. We can't allow club owners to treat our members like they are not human beings," Mophaleng warned yesterday.
The latest developments at the Limpopo club came less than three weeks after the side's two senior players were suspended for allegedly going on a drinking spree and refusing to pay for a sex worker while in camp.
The players are Vumane Mvundla and Ncoko Camagu, who Malabela said were suspended for going on a drinking binge while in camp.
He rejected claims that they were also being punished for refusing to pay a sex worker.
