"It's one of the major issues on the blueprint we are developing to transform our football," said Kirsten Nematandani, the Safa president.
"We believe it's a very simple matter. The first thing we need to do is to go back to basics. We are reviving our structures in the regions to get all the leagues back on track.
"Schools football was a big thing when some of us were growing up, professional clubs used the schools' Wednesday games to scout for new talent.
"Schools like Tlakula (KwaThema), Mohlakaneng (Seshego), Bankuna (NkowaNkowa), Etwatwa (Wattville) and Orlando, Sekano Ntwana (Soweto) were some of the best.
"The games featuring those schools used to attract massive crowds. Our uncles, aunts, sisters and parents used to knock off early from work to attend the games.
"It is for that reason that Safa will be working closely with the schools because we want to channel our energies into development," Nematandani said.
"We are also working hard to bring back soccer legends."
