I JUST want to applaud and thank the department of transport, traffic officers, the police and the military for the wonderful job they did during the festive season on our roads and in the townships.
Though it seems as if it wasn't enough, since well over a thousand people lost their lives, the visibility of the law-enforcement officers ensured a decrease in the number of fatalities.
It is every person's responsibility to make sure that our roads are accident-free and all motorists need to be tolerant and patient while driving.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making sure that the death toll decreased by at least 300 deaths compared with 2008.
