Dragnet out for suspects after bottlestore robbery

POLICE in KwaZulu-Natal have made a passionate plea to members of the community to assist them in tracking down the people who robbed a bottlestore in Eshowe in November last year.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said a R20 000 reward has been offered for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the people whose faces appear on the clip of the video footage.

"On November 16 2009 two men entered Adams Bottlestore at Eshowe with an empty crate of beer bottle pretending to buy alcohol.

"One of the suspects drew out a firearm and allegedly demanded cash from a 67-year-old victim. The victim was assaulted with the butt of a firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the till," Zwane said.

"The other suspect also drew a firearm and forced the employees to the back of the store. Both suspects fled the scene with the cash.

"Nothing else was taken and no one else was injured during the robbery."

Zwane said anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects should contact Eshowe branch commander Superintendent Ronnie Mhlabuyalingana Buthelezi on 035-473-4219 or phone the Crime Stop number086-001-0111.
