MOZAMBICAN soccer star Elias Pelembe, pictured right, of Mamelodi Sundowns leads a four-man South African-based star players for the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Angola next month.

The other three are Dario Monteiro of SuperSport United, Platinum Stars' Almiro Lobo and veteran Jomo Cosmos Manuel "Tico Tico" Bucuane.

Also included in the team is Switzerland-based defender Paito, Fumo and Bila (both Cyprus), Khan (Qatar), Simao (Greece), Kapango and Luis (both Egypt).

Black Mambas are in Group C with reigning champions, Egypt, Nigeria and Benin. Egypt have been dealt a major blow following the withdrawal of their star midfielder, Mohamed Aboutrika, due to injury.

Mozambique arrived in Bloemfontein last Tuesday for an intensive training camp as part of their final preparations for the tournament.

It started with a 0-1 defeat by Zambia at Jomo Cosmos training ground in Johannesburg last Monday where Collins Mbesuma scored the only goal.

Bucuane said: "We know it's gonna be tough in Angola but we are ready. Our biggest threats will obviously be Nigeria and Egypt."
