A-list events worth noting in your diary

IF YOU love watching local and international events where the rich, beautiful, famous and stylish starlets swagger along the red carpet, then get your diary out and note the following events.

January 31 - The 52nd Grammy Awards will be hosted at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. Nominated in 10 categories, Beyonce tops Taylor Swift, who has eight.

February 16 - The Brit Awards will take place at Earls Court Arena in London to commemorate the best in music.

February 20 - The 4th annual South African Film and Television Awards will be held at the State Theatre in Pretoria. Check our website for updates.

March 7 - The 82nd Academy Awards will be held in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theatre and Highland Centre in Hollywood. Look out for nominations around February 2.

April 17 - See the cream of local entertainers at the 16th annual South African Music Awards. The organisers say the event at the Sun City Superbowl will be spectacular.

June - Hopefully we can expect to see the 2nd annual South African Traditional Music Achievers awards again. These awards were designed to give recognition to local traditional musos. Plus the 2010 World Cup kicks off on June 11.

August 29 - Watch the television arts and sciences 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards. Nominations will be announced on July 8.

October 15 - The African Music Awards will be held at the Wembley Arena in Johannesburg.

October - The Channel O Music Video Awards are expected to take place - no date available yet.

The yearly Metro FM Music Awards are expected to take place early next year.
