"Two suspected rhino poachers were wounded and one killed in an exchange of gunfire with rangers on December 25," it said.
Rangers in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park heard shots at about 7.40pm and responded, resulting in the shootings.
The carcass of a male white rhino was found on Saturday.
"We regret a life has been lost but ... those who think they can plunder our wildlife resources do so at their peril," said EKZNW general manager Sifiso Kheswa. - Sapa
