The SACP has a point, but it's sad to see elders such as Jeremy Cronin, Blade Nzimande and the like being insulted by political youngsters who should be learning from them in the first place.
I disagree with John Mokobi, who wrote a column on December 13 saying the historical reasons for the formation of the alliance between the ANC, SACP, Cosatu, and SA National Civics Organisation are no longer relevant since we attained democracy.
In the past, the SACP joined forces with allies to achieve democracy. Since that fight has been won, its time we go to the next level and turn SA into a socialist state.
The implementation of the Freedom Charter is the only way to transform our society and achieve total justice.
The truth is that SA is in a good position to use its mineral resources to address education. Why education? Every thinker will agree with me, uneducated people are a burden to the state. I am against state ownership but the model I am proposing is that the local mining industry be socialised in accordance with the Freedom Charter so that 100percent of the net profits made get channelled to universities and colleges so that higher education becomes totally free and accessible to all.
Why should BEE create four or five billionaires instead of focusing on programmes of transforming a society as a whole?
