THREE initiation school teachers have been arrested after the bodies of two initiates were found at a school in Dewetsdorp, Free State police said yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Motantsi Makhele said the police responded to the first call on Thursday and found the body of a 19-year-old man covered with a blanket under a tree at the initiation school.

The body showed some bruises, indicating that the man might have been assaulted.

Further investigations led to the discovery of a second body, that of a 21-year-old man who died on Wednesday and was buried in a shallow grave.

The three teachers, aged between 18 and 30, are expected to appear in the Dewetsdorp magistrate's court soon to face murder charges.

Makhele said the police were also investigating assault cases involving 12 other boys at the initiation school where the two bodies were found.

He said several more arrests were expected. - Sapa
