DESPITE the setbacks gospel singer Thandi Mokwena experienced when she started in the music industry, she is positive about her future.

From Boshof near Kimberley in the Northern Cape, Mokwena says she struggled for years to make her mark in this dog-eat-dog industry.

However, the release of her debut album Nqonqoza marks a new era for the vocally talented singer. After looking for a recording deal for years, Mokwena now believes there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The 12-track album not only showcases her amazing voice but also her composing skills.

From the onset, it becomes evident that with this album she's charting her own musical course, choosing to express her talent through music.

It talks about her life and musical journey struggling to get the right direction. She also does a tribute song dedicated to her mother, a woman she calls a heroine of her world.

"I always had love for music and it would have been a sin not to use the talent that God gave to me," Mokwena says.
