Icons to coach Limpopo youth

AN ARRAY of Premiership stars will invade Limpopo on Sunday.

AN ARRAY of Premiership stars will invade Limpopo on Sunday.

They are Siphiwe Tshabalala, Jimmy Tau, Itumeleng Khune, Punch Masanamela and Itumeleng's younger brother Lucky Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Katlego Mashego and Teko Modise (Orlando Pirates), Emmanuel Ngobese (United FC), Thapelo Liau (ex-Bloemfontein Celtic), Teboho Mokoena (Mpumalanga Black Aces), Siphiwe Mkhonza (AmaZulu) and Steve Lekoelea, as well as coaches Trott Moloto, Khabo Zondo and Alex Bapela.

They will be in in Senwabarwana to help develop the game in the township.

Prominent player manager Jazzman Mahlakgane said yesterday that the icons would hold coaching clinics for children aged 10 to 15 at the Senwabarwana showgrounds.

"The players and coaches will also visit the Helen Frantz hospital as part of our social responsibility programme," he said.

"It's the greatest Christmas gift for the people of Senwabarwana, many of whom are soccer mad. They always see these icons on television.

"The players will also go to Thaalane village to meet Kgosi Mmalebogo. We are planning other projects with the Blouberg municipality, working together with the executive mayor, McDonald's, Nike and Coca-Cola."

For Masanamela the visit has special significance as he was born and bred in Senwabarwana before joining Chiefs.
