Tsedu uses memorial as his soap box

FORMER Muvhango actor Mpho Tsedu nearly spoilt the memorial service of radio and TV presenter Elelwani "Jackee" Muleya in Polokwane yesterday.

FORMER Muvhango actor Mpho Tsedu nearly spoilt the memorial service of radio and TV presenter Elelwani "Jackee" Muleya in Polokwane yesterday.

Tsedu, allegedly fired from Muvhangoa few years ago, accused the media of not reporting positively about personalities while they were alive.

Instead of giving a message of support to the bereaved family Tsedu reportedly accused Sowetan of "always looking for negative stories" rather than writing constructively about people.

Tsedu said Muleya had done many worthwhile things as part of her social responsibility programme but the media had failed to report on these.

He used the opportunity to lash out at the "politics at Muvhango", saying it had contributed to his leaving the soapie.

Josias Ncube, the TV programme's director, intervened and accused Ncube of introducing politics into an emotionally charged event and of not respecting the Muleya family.

Muleya, 32, a presenter at Capricorn FM, died in a Pretoria hospital while undergoing surgery last Wednesday.

She will be buried at the Makwarela cemetery near Thohoyandou tomorrow.
