COMEDY fans can look forward to an entertaining 2010 when The Real Joburg Theatre Comedy Festival takes off from March 4 to 6..

Comedians Chris Forrest, Marc Lottering and Nik Rabinowitz will open the festival, which will take place at the Mandela Theatre in Braamfontein.

Lottering, who hails from Cape Town, is considered by many to be one of the hottest comedians in South Africa. He first burst on to the scene with a self-scripted one-man show in 1997 and has kept audiences in stitches ever since.

Lottering has been the recipient of both the Fleur du Cap and the Vita Theatre awards. He has also performed in London, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Lottering continues to entertain audiences with his hugely successful shows, From The Cape Flats With Love, Big Stakes And Slap Chips, Hallelujah and, more recently, Three Wise Men and Three Wiser Men, directed by comedian David Kramer.

Nik Rabinowitz, who won the South African Stand-up Comedian award early this year, will make audiences to roll in the aisles.

After graduating from the University of Cape Town with a degree in business science, Rabinowitz decided to earn a living by making people laugh. He has been so successful telling jokes that his outstanding performances have won him many fans and awards.

Rabinowitz currently presents The Week that Wasn't on Cape Talk and Radio 702. He has also recently completed a sold-out season of his fifth one-man show.

Then, on March 5, the very funny and popular Barry Hilton will entertain audiences with his new concept, Fresh Catch show.

Fans are in for a real treat as he churns out his hilarious impressions and observations on social, political and family issues.

Hilton's new-found passion for fishing and enjoying the great outdoors has inspired his latest show, Throw me a line.

The hilarious David Kau will end The Real Joburg Theatre Comedy Festival on March 6.

Kau, who has chosen the theme I Should Have Done These Jokes First, will not disappoint anybody who has a sense of humour.
