STEVE Komphela believes he can repeat last season's exploits with former club Free State Stars and lead Platinum Stars to a top-four finish. Stars currently lie ninth on the table.

Their game against Free State Stars, which was scheduled for Saturday night, was called off due to bad weather and a power failure at Moruleng Stadium.

Komphela, who guided Free State Stars to fourth place last season, said: "I would like to finish the season in the top four. Anything is possible in this game and I'm going to work hard to achieve that goal."

But Komphela expressed disappointment that the match between the two Stars had to be called off. "We would have loved to play the match because we are on the back of a good win against Bloemfontein Celtic and the mood in the camp is fantastic," he said.

Komphela also revealed his admiration for his former employer, Stars owner Mike Mokoena, whom he kept speaking about during the interview with Sowetan.

"He gave me the opportunity and I hold him in very high regard. If our match had gone ahead and we had won, I would not have run around celebrating the same way I did when we scored the last-minute goal to win against his team in our first- round match because of the respect I have for him," Komphela said in parting.
