Poor support

IT IS looking increasingly likely that those who say the PSL stands for the Pretoria Soccer League have a point.

IT IS looking increasingly likely that those who say the PSL stands for the Pretoria Soccer League have a point.

Having easily dispatched rivals at the weekend, the two sides from the capital - SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns - will tomorrow lock horns in what might just turn out to be a title decider.

Pity, though, that football supporters in that part of the country are apathetic to the great efforts their teams are making on the pitch. Unlike with the Blue Bulls, whose rugby matches are always well attended, the football teams always look like the away side even when playing at home.

We must conclude that the championship trophy cabinet might be found in the capital city, but the true fans are still to be found in Johannesburg and Bloemfontein, where the passion has not diminished in any manner despite the barren seasons.
